A Case For The Humble Business Card

Do Business Cards Matter Anymore?

It may surprise you to hear us say that emphatically, they do!

We're living in a digital world, and I suppose you could say I'm a digital girl. Hell, you're probably reading this email on your phone right now! So what's the big deal about a small card that's more than likely going to be tossed or lost when you give it away?

It's the perfect first branding impression.

Let me tell you a story.

You've met someone out on the street, you strike up a conversation about your business, they seem like they would be a great contact to get more business. What's your next move?

If you don't have a business card to hand them, you can tell them your business name a bunch of times, tell them to look you up online and hope that they remember what that name is between then and their walk to the car, which will consist of looking at at least 3 Instagram stories, 2 texts from friends and 1 work email.

OR you have a business card to hand them. But, it's not any run of the mill, printed at home business card. It's that thick quality cardstock, it has a nice texture, some metallic foil printing on it. It just feeeeeels nice in your hand.

There you go, right off the rip you let them know your business doesn't play around. You've presented them with something physical that's memorable because it's different. Something that visually represents your brand. You've told them, "Not only can you trust my business because of what I told you in person, but now I'm credible to you because I've given you proof of its quality/design/cool factor as represented by my card."

THEN, when they do remember to find you online because they have your card to look it up, they're reinforced a second time that your business is one they can trust, since how you're represented online matches not only what you've told them, but also what you've shown them with your card.

One little card!

Like everything you do to market yourself or your business, it’s just a tool and it’s most effective when used strategically. Use it to create a moment, leave an impression, and be selective with whom to give one.

The design possibilities for this little piece of branding are endless, so find what best represents you and make the investment. It's a small one, all things considered.

Just don't forget to carry them with you, like Simone does!
